Hello! Yay, it’s Friday! What will you be doing this weekend? I hope you will be relaxing with your favorite knitting projects. If you are off to work, I hope you make it as special as it can be. I've found that making my lunch a little extra special, (a bento) like this, (there are plenty more ideas on Pinterest), helps me get through a tough day, or in my case, night. People think it’s a little strange when I open my lunch and they see it’s arranged beautifully, (someone usually says something), but I say why not make it lovely and enjoy that thirty minutes like a picnic!
This morning I finished my Thunder Moon Shawl. I’ll block it this weekend and share a photo when it dries. I love the drape and elasticity of this project. The pattern knits up quickly and makes a good size scarf type shawl.
I’m reading Madame Chic by Jennifer Scott, a fun and sweet read, as she describes the lessons she learned living in Paris as a foreign exchange student.
Jamaican meat pies were made yesterday. These were stuffed with a chicken mixture, but there are many varieties. My husband is from the Caribbean and this is a recipe I’ve learned to make over the years from his family, and a favorite of my children. With a little extra pie crust, I tossed in a few fresh raspberries, and my son and I enjoyed them with the fruit as well.
I have a quilt top I shared long ago that needs to be quilted. I just purchased the backing fabric and I am waiting for it to arrive in the mail so it can be on the bed for Spring. I had purchased some fabric to use, but it didn’t suit the colors, so I chose more of the fabric used in the top instead. The other fabric will be turned into some much needed spring pajamas:o
Wishing you a weekend filled with love, knitting, and joy dear friends. I’m off now with my favorite college student for a little lunch. xo Jeannine
