I'm joining Ginny's Yarn Along at Small Things today to show what I am knitting and reading. I haven't had much time to get going on my Anna Vest, but that's ok, it will happen soon. I'm reading The Secret Garden to my son since we have had some mild days this winter, (although not the past few days.) It usually starts out with me sitting on a bench outside, while he does tricks for me on his skateboard, I tell him I'm going to read to him and he ends up right next to me on the bench to look and listen while I read. He has other books he is reading for school (Number the Stars, for one,) but I love these moments when I can still get him interested in a book that he may not normally choose. I'm so proud of him.
If you aren't familiar with the illustrator of this edition of Secret Garden, Tasha Tudor, she was quite a remarkable woman. Think, homesteader, artist, illustrator, gardener, single mom and you'll be right on. I started a small collection of her books and this is one of them. They are quite sweet. After reading about her life and being fully inspired by her garden, I planted two hundred flower bulbs this fall. I can't wait until I can share some pictures of them here. Only thousands more to go before I have a garden like hers. I hope you have time to knit and read this week. Hang in there, the weekend is right over this hump. Jeannine:)
