Happy Wednesday! How is your week going? I can't believe it's April 20th! Can you?
I was happy to find new yarn waiting for me when I got home on Monday. I'm in love with these bright, summer colors and I can't wait to cast on something wonderful. The green is Budding Apple, Breathless yarn, by Shalimar Yarn. The pink is Good Luck, Midtown Sock, by Nooch Fiber.
The Shalimar yarn, I received from the Sleeping Bear Yarn Club I belong to, and it came with a lovely scarf pattern. I do love lace scarves, and a green apple lace scarf sounds pretty much like a perfect project!
The Nooch Fiber pink will be socks, but I must admit, I usually have a small, "Should it be socks or a shawl?" struggle going on in my mind whenever I pick up sock yarn, because I love shawls so much.
I have really been enjoying this site lately! I mean, knitting and vintage, what's not to love? I think the pink yarn will be a pair of these. I like looking at and knitting vintage patterns. I can't help but think about the women, who knit the pattern long before me. I picture them in my mind, in their wall papered kitchens, wearing cute aprons with a pocket, and baking homemade treats, and I think..."We would have been friends." Yes, I love to see what they may have been knitting.
This is a welcomed quiet day. Jordan has not yet come downstairs and I can hear gentle rain against the window. We will be heading out in a bit for a violin lesson, then home again for math and language arts work, but I hope this gentle quiet day passes slowly; a nice retreat from the past couple days. Later this afternoon, I'll be cooking something up for the older boys. This is pretty much our daily routine during the week. I live my life quite simply, even though it's busy at times. The simplest days are where I find pure joy.
Today I wish you, the kind of sweet joy that's found in a simple, quiet day.
Have a beautiful Wednesday friends. xo Jeannine
