Hello! I’ve missed visiting with you. Every third weekend I work away from home and this was my first since taking this new part time job. The long hours and very busy days there, make me grateful to be home this morning very much. Sometimes I can manage to visit here, even when work is scheduled, but this weekend I wasn’t sleeping so well and couldn’t seem to do it all. I hope your weekend was perfectly wonderful!
I stopped at the store on the way home, because I knew my husband was starting dinner, and I thought an appetizer and dessert was in order to show him he is loved. It was a sweet evening together at the table.
It’s a beautiful morning and it will be very hot today. It should be a perfect day for some knitting and a little reading. I’m reading from several different books and enjoying them all so much. I love the new magazine Making, and really want to make every pattern the designers have created. I will definitely be buying future volumes of this magazine. I Love it! I found Fancy Pantry after reading about it in my Daybook of Comfort and Joy. Fancy Pantry is an older book with many homemade recipes for canning and for other items for the pantry.
I’m also reading the novel, Suite Francaise, by Irene Nemirovsky. It’s pretty incredible in that, the author started writing the book during WWII, as France was being invaded by Germany. She was just becoming an up and coming author, with two novels already written, when she was arrested before finishing this book, and was sent to a concentration camp. She died there a month later. What a tragedy! Now, her novel has been carefully analyzed for its content and her style, and finish on her behalf. I picked my copy up at Costco, not realizing it would be such a treasure. I love that I’m honoring her by reading her work. I’ve just started, but her writing is beautifully expressed.
I have a lot to share with you this week. I could go on and on really. Tomorrow evening my daugther and son-in-law are coming to dinner. Also, we have a family friend, their dear friend, visiting all the way from Japan. There will be food and joy shared all evening. Talk to you soon!
I hope you have a beautiful day today dear friends! Love to you! Jeannine xo
