We have made it to Friday my friends! Are you as happy as I am? Even though I am a stay at home mom (I work outside the home about one day a month and I'll tell you about that one day,) I really appreciate the weekend when homeschooling and public school rush and organization can be off the schedule. I'm enjoying a little chicken pie for breakfast. Yesterday while my son was away, I decided I better come back home and cook for the big hungry guys that beat me home on Thursdays. The homeschool group is about an hour away and the only thing worse than driving back home and having to go back again, is getting home late and having everybody waiting for dinner while I try to catch up. (It's usually not the most patient kind of waiting if you know what I mean.) So, I made these pies and a baked macaroni and cheese and the family ate it the remainder of the evening, so my work was done. ahhh.
The Baby Doll Cardigan, by Lisa Ellis has been on my needles for quite a while and I just picked it back up in hopes of finishing it for a wedding shower I'm attending next weekend for my niece. The yarn is chunky Keltic, by Berroco. I've had it in my stash for a few years. I do like the colors! I'm looking for a stone button to match and I better order one soon if I'm going to get it in time.. I have committed myself to trying to knit from my stash as much as I can tolerate (ha) and for the most part I do well. I do however give myself one gift each month and if you haven't heard of the Sleeping Bear Yarn Club, please allow me to fill you in.
It's from Wool and Honey, in Cedar, Michigan, and each month the ladies there send you a beautifully wrapped package that includes one hank of a gorgeous hand-dyed yarn, (inspired by the beautiful landscape of Leelanau,) a pattern (socks, shawl, or baby sweater; you choose), and a stitch marker made by a local artist (can you see it on the string?) Everything they send is beautiful. I mention the Sleeping Bear yarn club here because this is my second year with the club and Melissa from Wool and Honey is so great. I'm hundreds of miles away, but when I call her or she calls me, she speaks as if we are old friends. The yarn is gorgeous and I now have a small collection of the best stitch markers ever:) If you decide to pamper yourself with some new yarn each month, you might want to check it out and enjoy having it delivered without having to shop. I wasn't asked to write this little review, but thanks for such a great club Melissa!
The sweet mama seen above is my new neighbor! If ever there was motivation to get out and go for a walk, I'd say visiting her is it!
We are headed to a combined piano and violin recital tonight and then nothing but enjoying the weather for the rest of the weekend. I hope your weekend is all you need it to be and more. Jeannine:)
Hi, my name is Jeannine. I live in the Midwest, US. I am a wife and a mom of four. I spend my time taking care of my family, cooking, knitting, sewing, gardening, and homeschooling my youngest child.
