Hello! In search of spring today, I took a quick drive to view the field above, pretty much the only thing green around here right now and I've been admiring it daily, wanting to get a few pictures and finally did.
But speaking of green, I am working on a green shawl, Pear Sorbet, (doesn't that sound dreamy?), by Marly Bird.
After looking at her pattern to post here, I decided I'm in love with that lime green yarn and may have to start another sometime soon.
In the jar, I have cilantro. After reading this, I realized I could satisfy my gardening and spring cravings for another month or so, if I get a few more vegetables growing this way. I'm inviting you to look in your refrigerator to see what you can grow:) I'd love to see pictures!
I took the scenic route home from the green field, past the river. It's always a pretty, quiet, country drive.
This is the kick off to my Cottage Corner Tuesdays! Each Tuesday I'm going to post pictures of a corner of my home. We have lived here thirteen years. I've been through all the stages of a messy home because of a big family. Toddler toys taking over (I remember a neighbor stopping by to greet us and literally having to walk over toys to get to my couch), coloring on walls, and light fixtures being taken out by Nerf footballs. One time when water was left on upstairs, it started pouring through the overhead light in the kitchen below! (I can laugh now.) I wouldn't trade those days for the world, but as my boys get older, and my daughter has a house of her own, things are transitioning and I can plan to do a little more here to keep it up. Stone cottage, was created, to share my gratitude for life here, and as a plan of what I want my home to be. You know the expressions, Bloom where you're planted; Home is where the heart is, etc. Yes, that's it! I am doing that.
Store bought things, don't really make the list of how I want this cottage to be though. No, that's not me.. What will make Stone Cottage a destination, will be to make it a place full of homemade things, like quilts, pillows, and white doilies! And of course homemade food…and more bookshelves, and more books! Flowers, candles and all the people I love, and friends who love these things too. I want laughter here, and I want my family to feel loved here. Now, that's a cottage wouldn't you say? So, instead of me trying to redesign entire rooms to look like magazines, (that's not in the budget), I've decided to take small corners of my home and over time, fill them with all these things I love. My hope is for you, and me to see the Stone Cottage I have planned evolve.
The first Cottage Corner picture is in our family room, next to the fireplace. The hope chest was my mama's, (she's in heaven now.) The first changes I'd like to make is to replace the few store bought things there with a couple more homemade quilts (the one on the right was my first one made) and of course homemade pillows. I'd like to lighten the paint, and hang more pictures of family. Yes, definitely:)
Have a beautiful day! Jeannine
